District Conference

Hello everyone!
This was a pretty good week!  A lot of hard work, not much success with investigators, but that's alright.  By far the highlight of this week was District Conference in the weekend in Bucharest.  Elder Stephen C. Kerr, a seventy (I'm not sure if he's an area 70 or part of one of the quorums or something) came and spoke to us.  He was really cool.  He spoke Saturday night about seeking revelation and how we can't let tradition get in the way of revelation.  He talked about how we need to be open to new things if the spirit says that's what we should do.  Sunday he spoke about inviting people to church and why that's not hard for members or missionaries.  He told us a story about when he was a missionary and how right before his mission president was released the mission president got a letter from the First Presidency asking him to raise $100 million to build things on BYU campus.  The mission president was really good at fundraising, but Elder Kerr asked him how he was going to do it, and his response was: "I'm going to ask people to give me their money."  That simple.  He then related it to how we can simply invite people to do things.  "Will you come to church with me this Sunday?" is as hard as it needs to be when we invite people to church.  He said that we as people complicate and worry about lots of things, but that people are never offended at an invitation, but rather that most people get offended at lack of invitation.  It was a super good talk.  The other reason District Conference was so good was because the Craiova branch was there (most of them), and I got to see P...! She was doing super well, she was super happy, even if it doesn't show in her picture (Romanians are very serious in pictures), and I was super excited to see her.  She even gave the closing prayer in the special recent convert session Elder Kerr held, and saying prayers was one of the things that scared her most back when I was in Craiova.  Also, I found out that Cl... (the mom of the family baptized back in November in Craiova) had a son this last week!  His name is D....  That's why their family didn't come to conference, but it's alright because they had a very good reason haha.
So that's what happened this week!  I hope all of you have a great week!  Love you all!
Love, Elder Michael Abbott
Dacă eu nu scriu ceva în Româneşte voi veţi fi supăraţi?  Sper că nu, dar oricum o să scriu ceva întotdeaună.  De ce?  Pentru că îmi place.
